Somalia is a country in transition. Al Shabaab no longer controls the capital Mogadishu, and a new government has people feeling optimistic about the country’s future. But there are still more than 1.3 million internally displaced people throughout Somalia – with hundreds of thousands in Mogadishu alone. And even though the city is experiencing newfound revitalization, this population remains highly vulnerable.

Mogadishu has been devastated by over two decades of fighting. Most recently, the city witnessed violent battles between Al Shabaab militia and African Union peacekeeping forces.
