Ending Sexual Violence in Darfur: An Advocacy Agenda
Ending Sexual Violence in Darfur: An Advocacy Agenda summarizes Refugees International's work on sexual violence in Darfur through 2006 and includes recommendations for improvement in the international community’s response. The only solution to ending rape in Darfur is to find a political solution to end the conflict. Until such a solution is reached, the international community must continue to bear witness to the suffering of the women, provide what care and support they can, and renew efforts to
provide protection. The newly deployed peacekeeping force must prioritize and devote resources to the issue of sexual violence, Sudanese activists working to change the laws related to rape should receive discrete international support, and international donor governments should increase funding for programs that address sexual violence.
