The day Refugees International visited the pediatric ward, half of the patients said they had crossed over from Burma for treatment of their children with malaria, tuberculosis, severe malnutrition as well as a host of infectious diseases. Some of the other patients told us they were unregistered refugees who entered the camps for health care. They have decided to stay, but risk expulsion since the Thai registration system for new refugees had been closed for some time.
