The international aid community is struggling to provide assistance to the hundreds of thousands of Somalis in need of shelter, water, food, and medical assistance. UN staff continue to have some access to populations in needs, but the scale of the crisis, compounded by tremendous insecurity, has meant that the humanitarian response consistently falls well short of the need.
