Children and Women in Ethiopia

Among this group of older children, many appeared fragile or stunted but we did not see signs of life-threatening malnutrition. As always, in times of famine, the first and most vulnerable people are nursing mothers and children. Ethiopia has one of the highest child mortality rates in the world and the food shortages now prevalent in the country will undoubtedly drive that rate even higher.
