The village hopes this well produces water. They are now 14 meters deep and encountering wet sand – a good sign that water will be found. The villagers are hand-digging the well. The concrete lining was provided by Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Other non-governmental relief organizations working in Shinile include CARE and Save the Children. Several shallow wells serving the village have gone dry in the drought. Ground water appears to be scarce in much of this region.
