Many patients are the victims of conflict, either directly from war-related wounds or from the war’s consequences: lack of food, nutrition, hygiene, and medicine. This man was shot in the foot in January 2003, in his village of Nizi. He was not a combatant. He has been at Bunia General for a few months because he needs surgery to mend his bones. Although Bunia General has an operating room, it does not have a surgeon on the staff.
