On the day that Refugees International visited Rasulpur Camp in Saidpur, an Electoral Commission representative was registering voters. This activity has stirred controversy among the Bihari community throughout the country. Those who want to integrate into Bangladeshi society see this as a step forward, a way to secure a political voice, and to get the services they need: sanitation, clean water, and more education and job opportunities for themselves and for their children. Those who wish to return to Pakistan want there to be an agreement between the governments on the outcome of their situation first before they consider signing and becoming voters in Bangladesh.
