Visual Mission: Displaced in Lebanon Living in a Parking Garage

On August 7th at 6:52pm, an Israeli rocket was fired into the southern suburbs of Beirut. It hit and destroyed a residential building in Chiyeh. Refugees International had just returned from visiting over 800 people who were living 100 meters away in parking garage of the Beirut Mall. We have received report that none of them were killed, but many are now leaving this refuge in search of another.

Read our latest report describing how agencies' abilities to provide aid to people is decreasing due to the ongoing bombing.

Proper sanitation is a constant challenge for humanitarian assistance. There are six toilets in this structure, three for women and three for men, and over 800 people. Nearby homes have offered up their home bathrooms for showers. “Everytime you go to the bathroom, it is like a mob scene,” said this woman. Proper sanitation materials for women are particularly needed.
