Climate Refugees, a documentary by Michael Nash, looks at how the challenges posed by climate change threaten to intensify the world's most difficult and common problems. Rising sea levels, drought and desertification threaten to amplify issues like over-population, over-consumption, and lack of resources in the world’s most vulnerable regions. Climate change has recently been identified by both the US and UK defense departments as an accelerant of instability and an issue that must be factored into defense planning. Climate Refugees illustrates the issue of climate displacement and the lack of international processes to address this issue.

Climate Refugees had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January. There, it was one of three films highlighted by Sundance founder, Robert Redford, in a New York Times interview about how a film can be an instrument of social change. It was also the chosen feature film by Microsoft Bing and American Express.

Refugees International advocates for lifesaving assistance and protection for displaced people and promotes solutions to displacement crises. In 2009, it launched its Ken and Darcy Bacon Center for the Study of Climate Displacement. Learn more at www.refugeesinternational.org
